Terms of Use
unattend.tools is a free, browser-based developer tool, provided to you "as is". By using it you accept the terms below. They are short on purpose.
Last updated:
What this service is
unattend.tools generates Windows unattend.xml files from a
form. Inputs and output stay in your browser. The hosted instance at unattend.tools is a static site; you can also run the
same code locally from source.
Licence
The source code is released under the MIT licence. You may use, copy, modify, and redistribute it under those terms. The licence text travels with the source and applies to the software, not to this hosted instance's branding or domain.
No warranty
THE SERVICE AND THE GENERATED XML ARE PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT.
In plain English: the builder is a best-effort interpretation of Microsoft's unattend schema and of community-tested deployment patterns. It is a tool, not a guarantee. Validate every generated file against your target image before mass deployment.
No support obligation
There is no SLA, no support contract, and no committed response time for issues, feature requests, or questions. Bug reports filed against the public repository (when available) are appreciated and may be addressed on a best-effort basis.
What this is not
- Not legal advice. The generated XML may include EULA-acceptance fields, telemetry settings, and licence-key placement. Whether your specific deployment is licensed correctly is between you, your Microsoft volume-licensing agreement, and your legal team.
- Not endorsed by Microsoft. unattend.tools is an independent project. "Windows", "unattend.xml", "sysprep", and related terms are Microsoft trademarks; we use them descriptively to refer to Microsoft's products and file formats.
- Not a hosting service. Files you generate are not stored on our infrastructure. We have no copy of your configuration. We cannot recover lost work.
Liability cap
IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS, MAINTAINERS, OR OPERATORS OF unattend.tools BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICE OR THE USE OF OR OTHER DEALINGS WITH THE GENERATED XML, INCLUDING DAMAGE TO HARDWARE, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF PROFIT.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to generate deployment artifacts intended for unauthorised access to systems you do not own or operate. Beyond that, there is nothing exotic — use it the way you would use any other developer tool.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Slovak Republic. Disputes that cannot be resolved by direct communication fall under the jurisdiction of the courts competent for the operator's registered address.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as the project evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance.
